Ms. Arun is a registered patent attorney with a graduate degree in Biotechnology from Illinois Institute of Technology, undergraduate degree in Instrumentation Engineering from Mumbai University and legal degree from Suffolk University Law School. She also has industry and research experience, having worked in biotechnology for five years and in engineering for one year. She has experience in a number of scientific environments and has practical experience in performing research and development for research institutions and production units.

 

Practice Description:

Ms. Arun's practice focuses on the preparation and prosecution of biomedical devices, biotechnology and engineering patent applications. Ms. Arun has drafted and prosecuted U.S. and international patent applications. She assists a wide variety of clients in obtaining patent protection. These clients range from start-up companies to large academic research institutions.

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Arun was an associate at Lawson & Weitzen LLP in Boston, MA.  Ms. Arun was a Research associate with Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, MA and her work involved muscle atrophy research including identifying signaling pathways for Atrogin-1 and PGC1 alpha. Her work also included researching pathways for muscle myopathy induced by statins. Before joining Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Ms. Arun worked in the design and development department of Borax Morarji Chemicals Ltd., a chemical production unit located in Mumbai, India. Her work involved designing, programming and implementing automated system to conserve energy using Programmable Logic Control (PLC).

Patent prosecution in the biotechnology and engineering arts including molecular genetics, immunology, tissue engineering, biomedical engineering and civil engineering.
